to head Waverly home New York -- Budd Goldman, ceo of
Ellery HomeStyles, announced the appointment of Chip Scala to the
newly created position of president of the Waverly Home Fashions
division. more

2. Paul
Hooker now sole owner of Sferra New York – To celebrate
the 115th anniversary of Sferra, George Matouk has decided to sell
his interest to Sferra president Paul Hooker, making Hooker the sole
owner of the company. more

3. Dollar
General to accept Visa Goodlettsville, Tenn. -- Dollar
General and Visa USA today announced that consumers will be able to
use Visa credit and check cards at more than 8,000 Dollar General
stores in 34 states, beginning tomorrow, Sept. 22. more

4. Shabby
Chic ready to roll out stores Los Angeles -- Rachel
Ashwell Designs has received an investment by Goode Partners, LLC
and the funding of a senior credit facility by The Retail Finance
Group of GMAC Commercial Finance to drive a retail store expansion.

design contest calling for entries White Plains, N.Y. –
The Surtex 2007 International Student Design Competition is now open
to entries. more

6. Federated
continues post-merger consolidation Cincinnati --
Federated Department Stores said it will consolidate data center
operations in St. Louis and Lorain, Ohio, as the company reduces
duplication and excess capacity in its information technology
organization. The St. Louis and Lorain data centers were acquired by
Federated in its merger with The May Department Stores Company in
August 2005. more

7. JCP
to launch new lingerie line Plano, Texas -- JCPenney will
introduce a new private intimate apparel brand, Ambrielle, in the
largest private brand launch in the company's history. Ambrielle
will be the centerpiece brand of JCPenney's redesigned lingerie
departments, launching in JCPenney stores, catalogs and online on
jcp.com in spring 2007. more
